Ship Modelling & Simulation Centre AS (SMSC), develops maritime- and offshore-related simulators for use in training and operational conceptual evaluations. SMSC develops its own software and provides custom-tailored simulation-based training for all vessel types on any location.
The SMSC head office is situated in Trondheim, Norway. Our permanent staff of highly qualified chartered engineers, together with our senior captains, DPOs and crane operators, constitutes a unique blend of theoretical and practical experience.
SMSC has since the company was established in 1980, developed a first-class competence on producing realistic mathematical models for use in pre-simulation of highly demanding or high-risk maritime operations like:
- Shuttle tanker training
- PSV operations
- Ship to Ship lightering (STS)
- Offshore crane- & lifting operations
SMSC also offer consultancy services typically related to offshore loading, crane and lifting operations, harbor development studies, waterway evaluations, offshore windmill studies and FPSOs.
Other particular areas of expertise are:
- Dynamic Positioning; from small PSVs to DP Rigs.
- Simulation of operations in Arctic environments and ice-infested waters.
SMSC have for a number of years delivered simulators and educational software to The Norwegian Training Centre, Manila (NTC).
