ESCORT TUG/PILOT TEAM TRAINING

Tug escort is gaining recognition as being a most effective measure to prevent tanker accidents. For that reason, tug escort is mandatory for tankers transiting in and out of an increasing number of terminals and harbours. However, in order to be effective, tug performance, procedures and training of tug crew and pilots have to be adequate and tailor-made. The training program has been developed in co-operation with classification societies, major shipping companies, the oil industry and national maritime bodies.
